Grandad's Letters from Lakeland

Each week, Alexander Law wrote a letter to one of his three grandchildren – Elizabeth, Andrew and me!

Full of the warmth and affection of a doting Grandad, they blend a love of language and storytelling with a gentle wit and mischievous sense of fun. They paint a vivid picture of the landscape and wildlife of his Cumbrian Lake District home.

Handwritten, and often no more than a side of A5, they were to be read to the children by their parents, so while often simple and playful in their style, they are littered with ‘grown-up’ jokes, nods and asides.
